CHARTER OF DEMANDS

Following are the demands on which YFE is negotiating with the Union Govt. in Delhi

CHARTER OF DEMANDS

Deferral of the proposed hike in reservation in the central universities.

AND

An Expert Commission should be formed which would explore all the avenues of affirmative actions, review the efficiency of reservation1 as an affirmative action (considering both its benefits and drawbacks) and compare the efficiencies of the all possible affirmative actions. Thus it should come up with a fool proof and time bound strategy to uplift and empower the backward sections of our country without interfering with the overall development and well being of our Nation.

Implementation of the proposed extended reservation policy and any other new reservation policy only after the commission has submitted its report.

A white paper on the reservation policy.

1 We view reservations as a limited step to provide opportunities for the backward sections of our country to acquire education and employment.

AND

Places in the Government jobs that are remaining vacant due to lack of eligible candidates from the reserved category should be opened for other eligible candidates immediately.

AND

No action should be taken against the agitating students, interns and resident doctors in any form as regards to service break, termination, pay deduction, legal action etc.

AND

The Hon’ble Prime Minister should give a concrete statement on the issue.

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY EXPERT COMMISSION?

It should be a non-political non-parliamentary commission with members from judicial, social sciences, educational, scientific background. It should be formed in15 days and should submit its report within 1 year’s time.

WHAT WOULD BE ITS AIMS AND OBJECTIVE?

To come up with a fool proof and time bound* strategy to uplift and empower the backward sections of our country without interfering with the overall development and well being of our Nation.

WHAT SHOULD IT DO?

1) It would explore all the avenues of affirmative actions.
2) It would assess the efficiency of the existing reservations taking into consideration both its benefits and drawbacks. #
3) It would compare the efficiency of other means of affirmative actions with that of reservations.
4) It should find ways other than affirmative actions, which would help in changing the socio-economic system, which breeds exploitation and inequality.
5) It should come up with socio-economic criteria, which would exclude the affluent and those already having access to jobs and higher education. **
6) It should fix parameters to determine the degree of upliftment and empowerment of the backward sections so that when adequate degree is achieved the Government should stop the policy of affirmative actions.
7) It should always keep in mind that the affirmative actions whatever suggested by the Commission should never interfere with the overall development and well being of our Nation.

*We want that whatever affirmative actions would be followed should have an end-point defined. Parameters should be defined after which there would be no need for affirmative actions in the same lines as they are being given till date.

**Creamy layer should be applied for all.

#While assessing the policy the Commission should take in account the current data about the population distribution.

The commission so appointed should use emperical and verifiable methods to compare the costs vs benefits of affirmative action and also compare alternate means of meeting social objectives as laid out by the country.

Your demands are reasonable. But particular importance is to be given for excluding the Creamy layer from all reservations.

At 5:54 am, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Some Minister is reported to have said that excluding Creamy Layer would be difficult to implement. Is he trying to support the Creamy Layer? One should not vote for any Congress Candidate in the future.

At 5:54 am, Anonymous Anonymous said...

All these your demands are quite logical and farward thinking. I could see no reason for anyone serious about upliftment of deprived casts to ignore these demands. Infact the demand for total review of reservation policy should come from SC/ST as majority of them are not at all benefitted from this in 59yrs.
Please do not compromise in any case otherwise we will feel diched and loose all hopes.

You can contribute to anti quota protests

Those protesting against the reservations should consider the following views :

Meet the vote politics on caste based reservations by the language the politicians understand i.e. votes. That is the most effective way.
Consider taking a pledge to vote against UPA entire life untill they roll back proposed increase in reservation, appoint non-political commission to examine issue whether reservations should be continued, in what form, on what basis and how long.
The pledge should be voluntary, honest and serious, non-political and a signed hard copy should be posted to Sonia Gandhi from all corners of the country with one copy to a central agency.
A central website should record the number of people taking pledge in an honest manner and should publish figures to media.
If number of people taking pledge not to vote for UPA is in thousands or lacs, the Govt. may not move but if it is in Crores, Govt. will have to move, otherwise they will be out of power in next elections.
The very fear of losing the votes of those against the caste based votes will discourage the politicians to play with merit for their attempt to garner vote bank of OBCs.
Poticians are dividing the people, so let us divide the politicians.
If they can not uplift the SC/ST by 68 years of reservation, they will take more than 100 years to prolong the reservations for OBC.
Develop proper central website, Mobilize students, rallies for mass pledge etc. rather than strike by Doctors alone.
The format for pledge should be breif and widely circulated through SMS, E-mails, Blog, rallies, posters etc.
Suggested draft is given below : "I pledge to vote against UPA my entire life untill the Govt. rolls back proposed increase in reservation and appoints non-political commission to examine the whole issue of reservations including its roll back over a period of time."

Keep the online petition on but also start the incremental build-up of pressure. I guess Three Weeks will be all that it takes to bring the UPA down and for Good.

If reservations are the way to go, then let us demand the following:

1) Candidates obtaining seats for education via reservations SHOULD compulsorily serve the institutes that serve the backward communities for atleast 5 years after their education.

2) They should also serve in rural places where backward communities need immediate help for at least 1 year.

If the logic for reservations is social upliftment, then I see the above should be implemented otherwise it does not serve the masses at all.

I support Youth for Equality entirely. The government thinks that it has found a easy way out by suggesting that general category seats will be kept constant. The action is hasty and incompetant.

All institutes are already heavily loaded with students, IITs do not have adequate labs, classrooms, dorms to support a drastic 25% increase. And where will merit stand ? In a classroom where 50% of the students are sitting because of affirmative action, how will a professor balance teaching the meritous with those who need extra attention.

Its time the government thinks about what it really needs to do. Invest more in rural education. Improve quality of state schools. Encourage private investment in education. Why does the government have to present lot of obstacles when entreprenuers want to open world class institutes in India.

The demand for an independent panel to review the needs of affirmative action is totally justified.

One of the good things British did for India (knowingly or unknowingly) was to rid many parts of India, of the cast divide which was deeply rooted in the society. People started believing of the possibility of them as equals. Now after having lived in the independent India for more than 50 years, some among us want to go back to the old system. They want to change the equality that exists in few places that matters, to 51% Upper casts, 27% OBC’s and 22% SC’s/ST’s (think about the scenario, if in a given year, it happens that more than 90% of the students getting through merit in IIT’s are OBC’s, then will they still restrict them to 27% and tell the rest to come back next year because you have exhausted your quota).

And what happens to the self-confidence of the person. For most of us, confidence comes from the thought of knowing that we have something great because we disserved it. What happens to our moral, when we come to know that even if we work hard and get what we want, you are told “you got it because of charity” (No one believes an SC/ST person, if he tells that, he got the promotion because he worked hard). Once a person is tagged as an OBC/SC/ST, his successes and failures are also taken as granted and attributed to the tag. The last straw is when you yourself start believing that you are inferior.

Our country needs believers who believe that they have the will and hard work to do the impossible. Even at this moment, the flame of belief is hardly feeble. Lets not blow it out….

Whenever the issue of reservation comes up for public debate, the entire Dalit and backward community is painted as devoid of any merit without caring about the fact that a majority of them survive without reservation.

On the other hand, the debate declares the so-called upper castes as meritorious. Therefore at this juncture when the debate on reservation is rife, let us gauge merit on both sides.
The merit of upper castes can be evaluated by assessing their performance on the basis of the traditional social structure. Looking at history the Varnas-Brahman, Kshatriya and Vaishyas were assigned with particular functions.

The Brahman had the privilege of teaching, the Kshatriya of protecting all creatures and the Vaishya living by commerce.
The Dalits could ask the Brahmans if they were so meritorious why then half of the country's population is illiterate.
If the Kshatriyas were so meritorious then why could they not defend our borders? The Shaka, Huns, Tartars, Mughals, Dutch, British etc. all defeated them and subjugated us.
Similarly, if the Vaishyas were so meritorious then why is trade and commerce of India in shambles?
In the same vein, if Arjuna of Mahabharata was so meritorious then why did Dronacharya demand Eklavya's thumb.
In contemporary times, look at the low Human Develop Index (HDI). India is placed at 127 in the group of 174 countries.

In the Corruption Perception Index for the year 2004, India ranked 90 in the group of 146 countries (Transparency International India report 2004). Above all, the external debt of India is at a whopping Rs 5,11,861 crore (Economic Survey 2003-4: p.128).

If meritorious economists and administrators are managing the affairs of the country without any reservation, why are we so economically poor?
Why are farmers committing suicide as if it is rural India's ritual? Why do we have hundreds and thousands of legal cases pending at higher levels of our meritorious judiciary?
Science and technology is considered the realm of super specialty and hence kept out of the bounds of reservation in India.

In this regard, Professor Nian Chai Liu and his colleagues at the Shanghai Jio Tong University in China spent two years collating and analyzing the output of 2000 universities worldwide and published their results by ranking 500 universities.

Only three universities/ institutions from India figured in the top 500 -- The Indian Institute of Sciences at 260 and the Indian Institutes of Technology at Kharagpur and Delhi, respectively at 459 and 460.
IIT Madras, Kanpur, Mumbai and Roorkee did not figure at all and of course there is no reservation for OBCs yet at these centres for learning.

There is something intriguing in the relationship between merit, commitment and contributing to a nation as seen by reservation bashers.
Why is that career becomes more important than service to nation to many IITians and IIMians, who wait to go abroad even before they pass out?
Let us look at the merit of the doctors working in the most prestigious hospitals of the country.
If the Indian doctors and medical specialists are so meritorious than why is that most of the VVIPs run away to foreign countries at the simplest of illnesses.

Even the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, an ardent supporter of Swadeshi had to call an NRI orthopedic surgeon for his knee operation.

Further, is it not logical to evaluate the merit of the professionals passing out from the various private universities, engineering, medical and management colleges where a seat can be bought for a few lakh rupees?
There is no reservation in sports even then a nation of over a billion has not been able to produce a single individual gold medalist in Olympics.

Similarly is it really a case of meritocracy that all the progenies of film stars are given a chance to act and sing in the film industry even though they do not have any experience?

Are these cases of merit or pedigree reservation? The answer is self-evident, as most of them have been one-film wonders.

But the fact remains that most of them could reach there just because of their pedigree.

A fact often neglected. We can asses the merit of the private sector by the contribution it makes to the world export market; it is just a trickle, just 0.7%. But still, it beats my imagination why the same private sector is vehemently opposed to reservation, has been demanding a level playing field for itself with the onset of the process of liberalization.

How can even then the private sector boast of its efficiency and merit? If the Indian industries are so meritocratic, why is it that they have not produced a single brand or item which can be internationally prescribed or has become an international commodity?

What right do industrialists of today have to call themselves meritorious when most of the owners of established business houses have inherited their business from their parents?

None of the top industrialists is a first generation industrialist.
They might have expanded the business but they could do so because they belong to a certain pedigree only. According to the Ministry of Company Affairs (MCA), 122 vanishing Companies have run away with Rs 838 crore of public money.
That is why a number of social scientists have argued that the rewards in the educational and economic system are not based on merit.
The educational and occupational attainments are related to family background and a number of circumstantial parameters rather than talent and ability.
That is why people with the same educational qualification do not get the same type of jobs and those in the same jobs do not get equal remuneration.

The Congress-led government is turning India into a dictatorship. Peaceful protests are of no use. Wherever they see fit, they twist and change laws or even the constitution to suit their power politics. We are a democracy, god damn it! Stop dictating us by making horrible policies.

I totally support this. It is not like increasing the prices of bananas by 1 rupee, such a bill needs expert evaluation, u just can't do it like this!!!

Dear
doctors please be flexible and little kind as govt has agreed to your demands and general seats are not being touched.

Please dont stretch the merit debate too far or else the it would be very difficult to put back the genie in the bottle, once unleashed.
The govt is setting new colleges and make more recruitments and even then you dont agree then you are calling for an equal response from the opposite side.
They may be unequal in resources but not in willpower and given a chance would fight to the finish as you are calling for.
Dont fall in the Vietnam trap goaded by the glamour and style of the elite media.

India's problem is not poverty but caste system

Poor Brahmins: All the upper caste poor solidly stand behind their rich jatwalas. When the Dalits are boycotted in Punjab why no other "poor" and landless Jat comes out in solidarity? A poor Jat is also a labourer like the Dalit. But why he is not showing his "class" solidarity with his poor Dalit colleague? A poor Brahmin or other upper caste man never prevents an upper caste trying to rape a Dalit woman. Nor does he prevent a Dalit woman being paraded naked in the village. We have no instance of any "poor Brahmin" or upper caste "poor" subjected to any atrocity in Punjab villages.

Naked woman: During elections, Brahmins and other upper caste "poor" do not sell their votes. Neither are they blocked from voting. No poor upper caste woman throughout India is made naked and ordered to dance in village streets in the presence of her father, mother, sons, daughters and other relatives. This great credit is reserved only for the Dalit woman. Is there any case of burning the houses of upper caste poor? It is the upper caste poor who are employed to burn the houses of Dalits. Dalits all over India are prohibited from taking water from common well and taps.

In coastal Andhra cyclone in which thousands died, only the Dalit bodies were not touched. Mother Teresa's Sisters came to do the job. Even in Western countries upper caste people have their separate temples, gurdwaras to which Dalits are not allowed. Such is the Hindu hatred of Dalits.

Poverty no problem: In "Hindu India" poverty is not a problem. It does not create any hate. It is caste which creates hate not poverty. From birth to death Dalits are hated. Even India's richest Dalit —Jagjivan Ram —was not allowed to be buried in Delhi.

Upper caste poor get equal status in all socio-religious issues. But the Dalit, even if he is an IAS, IPS official, is a third class person. A rich Dalit is also hated for his wealth, health and official status. He is badly abused using his caste name. Dirtiest words are used to hate a Dalit even if he is rich.

Poverty is no problem in India. No poor Brahmin has revolted against a rich Brahmin. In a Brahmin institution, its owner, always employs poor Brahmins, his own jatwalas, to see that the employees do not revolt. There is no trade union of poor Brahmins against the rich Brahmin employer.

Class solidarity: There is nothing like class solidarity of the poor. In Bombay textile mills, upper caste mill workers went on strike against their own Dalit colleagues employed in the weaving section.

A "class" is temporary but "caste" is permanent. There is no promotion or demotion in a caste society.

Poverty is not permanent. It can change any time as many Dalit-Backwards have become rich in the last 30 years.

But caste is permanent. It never changes. A born Dalit dies as Dalit even if he becomes rich. In every village of Punjab Dalits have their separate burials. Caste fixes your place — not poverty.

In "Hindu India" poverty yardstick makes no sense.

QUESTION TO MINE GURUJI

Do you feel the pain when a woman is raped ?
or do you feel pain when a dalit woman is raped by UC or any other criteria ?

If you say that CASTE is permanent and CLASS is temporary, then why stall Women's bill in the name of UC women , sc /st/ OBC women . Isn't 'AURAT jaat' a single caste.

And what is the caste of a child born to parents who married inter-caste.

And to counter your hard hitting questions pray tell me, WHAT Is the caste of the child who is born to that unforunate mother who is raped ..as stated by you.??

Hi,

I am not sure, but I heard that the seats in Parliament are also reserved based upon caste. They say that it was proposed that after every election the seats to be reserved for next elections would be decided by lottery system. Thus ensuring that no seat would be reserved forever.

However successive govt's decided to freeze the setup. So no changes were made after the first selection.

I think we need to fight against this.

Dear mineguruji,

What is your point?

For us merit means exact dictionary meaning. It does not differentiate between Brahmin or a dalit.

It just means the capability & willingness to excel. And the chance to excel should be given to all uniformly and at a level playing field.

If currently Indian private sector is doing good, it is becuase it is open to competition. Do not yet compare them with the best in the world, they have been strangled by the quota system for last 30-40 years. They are just spreading thier wings.

Let every one compete freely and fairly then you see how the society will flourish.

Lastely, let us not commit a crime to compensate for a crime that happened decades back, it will help no one.

Why does one need reservation in IIT/AIIMS, is it to earn a degree and earn quick buck for themselves? What is the intention?

I will support your cause if you say: Let the reserved candidates go back and help out the backward and needy people after thier higher education. Other wise your arguments sounds very hollow and driven by greed.

In fact thinking more about it, will a OBC who needs a open heart surgery be willing to take the cut if you tell him his surgeon belongs to his cast and was a 'reserved' candidate? OR rather will he be willing to go to doctor from his cast but is the best and most capable doctor?

Doctors who practice should be made to display their category - Paid or Reserved or Merit based - in prominent places in their place of practice. Paid seats are as unhealthy as reservations, but no one talks about it!! Lying about it should be punished as harshly as displaying a fake degree.

Also there should be a law in the parliament that any treatment of our leaders should be in India and in Govt. Hospitals like AIIMS. We should make them pass the law.

If some one gets treated abroad at his expense after this, it will be a good source for tax authorities to raid the person.

Two points to be considered-1.No population basis is used for distibution of percentage of seats.2.Time given for permanant solution or affermative action is to be decreased upto 6 months.

Hi,
We are a US IT Company and have decided not to pick any talent from india under quota catagory. I would also request all employers not to recuit people from quota. Unfortunately india is played with quota. Unfortunately we can't name it but in our management we have decided only to get the general catogry students. We are also circulating this with other US/UK companies in forum to follow.

Let's join hand and stand up against congress & left. educate people including OBC, SC, ST how they are used for VOTES. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR CONGRESS AND LEFT ANY MORE.

Dear Friends,
I know that just because I am from the general category and from parents who are not very well off I face a FOUR FOLD DISCRIMINATION
1. I have to compete for very limited seats in a general category
2. Many of the others studied in much better private public schools with much more exposure and attention by teachers
3. Many others had parents who could afford private tuitions and expensive coaching
4.Many others with me in school who were very dumb or wastrels or spoilt rich kids anyways are already in medical school just because their parents could afford the capitation fees.

Now that really f*@k's up the merit scenario for those in my situation and believe me: no one is listening....
IS THERE ANY ONE OUT THERE???.........

Hey guys I think we should leave the stinking buggers like the congress and the BJP out of this scenario..they are both hand in glove into this. let us not fool ourselves into believing that the BJP "leadership" will come out in support of this agitation.
There is no difference between the BJP or the Congress

Myself RAJESH from Nagpur.
MINEGURUJI IS DRAGGING THIS ISSUE IN DIFFERENT DIRECTION.
THE TALENT, INTELLIGENCE AND BRILLIANCY IS DISTRIBUTED EQUALLY IN THE STUDENTS OF ALL CASTS, CREEDS,AND EVEN IN RELIGIONS IRRESPECTIVE OF GEOGRAPHICAL BARRIERS. SO THERE IS NO QUESTION OF RESERVATION.
BUT IN INDIAN CONTEXT,SOME STRATA OF SOCIETY HAS BEEN WEEK ECONOMICALLY SINCE YEARS AND FOR THESE,DR.AMBEDKAR INTRODUCED QUOTA 60 YRS AGO.
ENOUGH TIME HAS BEEN GIVEN FOR,NO SIGNIFICANT RESULTS ARE SEEN. CURRENTLY THE ISSUE IS PURELY POLITICALLY MOTIVATED,POPULIST
AND TO ATTRACT VOTE BANK.
IN "TIMES OF INDIA" OF FEW DAYS AGO, MR.BHALCHANDRA MUNGEKAR[MEMBER OF UGC] GAVE SOME STATISTICAL DATA.
SCHOOL DROPOUT RATE OF CHILDREN OF 1.GENERAL CATEGORY [CLASS IV TO VIII] IS 23%.....THAT FOR OBC IS 32%.....FOR SC,IT IS46% ......AND THE SAME FOR ST IS 52%.
THIS MEANS, ITS IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO PROVIDE BASIC EDUCATION AND THEN THINK OF HIGHER EDUCATION.
REGARDING STUDENTDS WHO CANT AFFORD COACHING FOR IIT'S AND IIM'S..OPEN SPECIAL COACHING CLASSES FOR ENTRANCE TEST OF THESE REPUTED INSTITUTE.

IN CONCLUSION,RESESRVATION DOESNOT PRODUCE HEALHTY COMPETITION AND THIS WIDENS THE GAP BETWEEN STUDENTS OF VARIOUS "SO CALLED" CATEGORIES.

WE WANT COMLETE ROLLBACK OF RESERVATION.

We must demand and unite in our fight to abolish of all forms of discrimination and reservations:

ABOLISH ALL FEES FOR EDUCATION AND ABOLISH CAPITATION FEE/PRIVATE EDUCATION: (Germany has free education for all)
Good Quality Education must be a social need and FREE which has to be fulfilled by the state. After all we do pay taxes to the government to provide us quality services.
It is when, we the middle class chose to opt out of government schools that education suffered. If there were ONLY government schools we ALL (irrespective of castes) would have united much earlier and could have really kicked ass and ensured good education for all. The same happened with water, electricity, transport, health services etc.
We let the government take us for a long long ride - we did not fight... instead we chose an easy way out...today we all have aquaguards, generators, invertors, personal cars etc. and the government is sitting on its fat arse doing nothing.NOTHING. Forget higher education...Why cant the government supply clean drinking water even after 55 years of independence???
Why must we buy aquaguards while the poor ( irrespective of their caste) continue to suffer???
Why should we pay taxes and then have to pay again and again for services which are useless, while an idiot with cash becomes a doctor simply by buying his way through into private medical colleges??? WHY??

Dear Murali,
If you seriously believe that past ills should be forgotten to build a better future then we all (especially those of us who are from the upper castes) must pledge to forego all the heriditary advantages and priviledges we have inherited because of our priviledged position in society such as Land, Property, Social standing.
If we only want that the lower castes must forego their loss and pain suffered for thousands of years, and nothing should pinch or prick us, then we are behaving as status quoists.
The correct postion could be to resist and fight against all forms of discriminations of land, caste based (upper or lower) property, economic , social, political, gender, color; it is only the that we can start talking of "equality".

At 3:00 am, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why must people only remember that we the people of India have been royally given the stick on our behinds by the government for all these years only when it pinches us. This shows a completly self absorbed selfish and myopic attitude towards life in general.
No one spoke out against capitation fee colleges in terms of merit.
No one spoke out about how the government has not been looking after the lower castes and the poor in India till before this.
Suddenly these very same people are now becoming more holy than Bhagat Singh and Chandershekhar Azad and are suddenly the conscience keepers of not only merit in this country but also deciding on how and what should government policy be towards reservations and affirmative action.
No one speaks for a level playig field where money will not be the determining factor.

Where were these same doctors when

User Fees were hiked in AIIMs. These user fees would have forced poor patients to pay upto Rs.15000 for emergency procedures such as endoscopic surgery?? Only a small section of doctors fought and resisted this fee hike and these same doctors are not with this agitation anyway.

Where were these same doctors at AIIMs when their collegue from Neuro committed suicide?

Where are these same doctors when the profs screw them during viva's and grade students according to personal whims and fancies?

Where were these same doctors and students for all these years when the government has hacked the health budget to less than 4% but is busy building atom bombs, flyovers and parks??

Where were these students and doctors when others were already hoarse from their shouting, "that the affirmative actions taken by the government so far have largely not benefitted the rural poor and lower castes"

Its ok for you all to fight for your selfish myopic needs, just dont crouch it in a hypocritical language of humanist and social ideals.

POWER OF PEN AND WORDS....
Dear Friends

It has been 10 days since the students and other professionals against reservation are fighting for the just cause, in Delhi and many other parts of the country. Friends we are fortunate to have got a chance in involving for a true cause of the nation. This will surely lead to a general awareness among public and cunning politicians like Arjun Singh will not think of choosing politics as carrier any more. Let us continue this struggle with ever increasing zeal and bringing more and more public into it and protect this nation from falling into the greedy hands of select few politicians. Here are few lines from me that may make many others join this protest.

(Convert it to hindi please)
Wo Laye Then Tufan Se Kisti Nikal Ke
Aur Kaha tha hamen, ise rakhna sambhalke
Yaad hai hame wo junun wo lakho kurbani
Des Ke Liye Jo Kam Aaye, Wahi Hai Jawani
Har Garib Ko Ham Sikcha ka Haq Dilayenge
Lakh Kare Kosis Wo Hame Jati Pe Nahi Bant Payenge

Yes we remember what sacrifices were made by those who gave independence to us and we will not let our country be divided by politicians like Arjun Singh. This is written in English. If any one of you can convert it into Hindi and also pass it to those who are pro reservation groups and make them remember that it’s a nations that was brought out of great storms and make them feel that they should also come and fight for economic condition based help/reservation, it can work well. So please pass this.

'Youth for Equality' ???????

Do you guys also call for equality and justice when your Government is marginalizing your poor?

How can you be so fake? You call it equlity when it's nothing but self-interest.

All you're interested in is protecting your little high-caste middle-class slice of the pie. India will never prosper as long as long as it's full of selfish people like you.

At 11:28 am, Anonymous Anonymous said...

how dare u say like that - self interest blah blah. we dont mind the efficient people competing at a same level n getting jobs. if they have it in them , come n have it. there is no stopping them. i think u are among one of them only, who want the easy way out. when cant fight, u want to get that in ur bag on the basis of ur caste. it sucks. shame on u.

what is the need of reservations??? nobody is stopping the sc/st/obc ,they are free to study, learn& compete. then why do they need reservations??can't they compete with us.we are also like them, then why they want an easy way.Just BAN ANY TYPE OF RESERVATION.Let the deserving candidates take admission,& not the fools.

Unconditional reservation is wrong and should not be supported at all.

The sole criteria should bebased on economical conditions and not caste based.

IIT's call to all engineer and coorperate community

Hello guys,
Salute to all who are not desperated even after govt's declaration of reservation bill's implementation time.

Now its to be informed to you all that IIT Delhi students opened a help desk to contact at AIIMS ( Equality Square Park) for calling all engineers of India at a common plateform.

As you guys have seen earlier that 300 odds medicos in delhi made the govt's night sleepless ... addition of 5.76 lac engineers will definitely change the whole scenario...
and dictatorship of govt will have to pay its cost.

So its a humble request to all engineers and to coorperate sector to come and join the movement to be honest to society, to nation and to urself.

I support your cause.Anyday, standing against Government on any issue is welcome sign that democracy lives. But you have a long way to go. Be prepared for Long March.

Govt. should start colleges/ universaties with 100% SC/ST/BC/OBC faculty, if govt. feels there is no arguement in merit. We can give 100% seats to them. Linguistic minority colleges can be conducted. Why not start reserved IIT and reserved class IIM. Let us see whethe the cremy layer in SC/ST/OBC is ready to financially support the venture.

At least Maharahtra Education Baron Mr. Chagan Bhujbal can lead by adopting this strategy or his own colleges. Or adopt this in existing college at Bandra(west) Mumbai.

1 entire reservation system should be phasing out within a definite time period

2. bill should contain provision that after prescribed time period it should be automatically terminatad as no political party will have teeth to terminate in future.

dear students(youth for equality)
I am an engineer by profession & am with you guys from the very begining. I have been to AIIMS many a times with my friends & team. In my last visit i felt your movement needs to be taken out from institutes & into the streets so I started with a rally in my area that is Palam-Vihar Gurgaon it was a modrate success & is likely to be a bigger success on next sunday(04/06/06). However I have a Suggestion for your Charter of demands let's ask goverment to ensure that reservation is available to only those who need it & as a first step towards that we will make a Data-base of all those OBCs who are well off today. List incldes Ministers,MPs, MLAs, Buereaucrates etc. believe me if we can ask govt. to agree on this wind will be knocked out from the sails of all the selfish paracites(politicians) who are presently supporting these reservations.

Thanks well done & supporting you always

Guys, I think we should be innovative with strikes - it can cause lot of trouble to the patients. Just a suggestion:
1. Attend all emergencies
2. Attend OPD/etc at nights instead of day time - this way "stike" is observered; it does brings in visibility (which is one of the motive of a strike anyway). The patients would be with the doctors and would still complain (about the gov and not the doctors) as they would have to handle the inconvenience of going to hospitals at night.

It is a shame on the congress party, where on one side they say there are "all religion party and they fight for equality" and on the other side by giving reservations to OBC giving birth to in-equality attitude amongst the younster.

Don't they realise by taking this stand our own country's future is destroyed.

THE STORY OF RESERVATION
THE RECENT HYPE BY MEDIA, ORGANIZATIONS LIKE YFE IS MISGUIDING THE YOUTH AND ARE MADE TO BELIEVE THAT CASTE BASED RESERVATION IS GREATEST THREAT TO THEM.

They are'nt made aware of actual reality about various quotas.
Instead of the thing is BASIC PRICIPLE OF RESERVATION is objectionable. Youth seems to have believed that only CASTE BASED RESERVATION is objectionable. They are'nt made aware of various aspects of reservation and even different forms of reservation. Even if they are aware, they are blinded by some people and media to make them realize that they are upper castes which are'nt benefitted by reservations instead reservation is only against them.
They are presented misfacts about reservation especially SC/ST reservation packaged in the form of stories like grass hopper and ants.
Actually this way, castiest minds of the society are convincing the youth to follow their own caste lines and integrate them. While most youth anti reservationists raise their voices out of pure jealousy based on caste lines. While the modern youth still boasts about his higher caste pride, they can't take reservation for lower castes. May be because always their caste has been a matter a pride for them and now they are loosing something because of the same.
