OUR NEXT STEP

YOUTH FOR EQUALITY

MARCH FROM LADY HARDINGE MEDICAL COLLEGE TO JANTAR MANTAR ON 12th MAY AT 10 a.m.
Now that the elections are over and everybody in the govt. is free to speak, we are highly dissappointed that our honourable Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is still silent on the issue of extension of reservations. We had submitted a petition to him on the 2nd of may and are still waiting for a response from his side.
Classes are being boycotted in all 5 medical colleges of Delhi since the 27th of april but does it really matter to him?
As he has not responsed as yet we are planning a huge MARCH from LADY HARDINGE MEDICAL COLLEGE (LHMC) TOWARDS JANTAR MANTAR STARTING AT 10 a.m. on 12th MAY to remind him of our intentions .Students from all 5 medical colleges would be joined by students from I.P. University and D.U.

NOW THE TIME HAS COME FOR EACH ONE OF US TO MAKE THIS GOVT. REALIZE THAT THE YOUTH OF THIS COUNTRY WILL NOT TAKE THIS INJUSTICE HANDS DOWN.SO BE THERE AT LHMC BY 10 a.m. TO FIGHT AGAINST THIS INJUSTICE OF THE GOVT.

WE APPEAL TO ALL COLLEGES IN THE COUNTRY TO JOIN US IN THE PROTESTS.

It is great that you demand reduction of existing 22% SC/ST quota.. as per NEC directives.... it will get the politicians on the back foot.....and take the battle to their doorsteps rather than our front yard.

Right nOw i have seen the use of force by police on students. Its all over the media right now.
Please read the following... I would also like the moderator here to post the fllowing message so that other people can read it:
As you may have seen, none of the political party is going to support the Anti-quota movement raised by us: the Students of India. why???
we all know that they are doing this for their votebank... NOne of them can afford to speak against the quota ... It has already passed through parliament.
the only solution to stop this quota is to file a petition @ supreme court and Ask our Honourable President to Take a desision.
I repeat there will be no support from any Political parties or Any minister ( whatever post he may me.. Remember He is politician )
Organise simultaneous rally fully planned before....
And ask all the links all over the country to join the protest at the same day at same time.
This is the only solution.
Also make a strike effective at all colleges all over the country . MEre 5 colleges strike would not make a difference to the thick skinned ministers. They will try to persuade students to cancel the strike. They will destroy the future of these students...Remember they can do that... We cant do anything if we are not united.....
Please stay united and make a siultaneoous protest pre-planned.
Raise your voice all over the country.
Ask media to cover all the protest.
Collect funds and make a public appeal to all the citezens of the country to join in.
Ask your parents to join this movement. Ask their collouges to join them,. Ask the private organisation for support and ask themn to go on strike. After all if this is going to affect us students.. this will effect the organisations also and inturn the whole country.
I read the article where Our dumb politician Mr. Sharad Yadav . Said that Knowledge Commision is Useless And they DOnt Know Anything....
Yes sir, we all know nothing thats the reason you all Ba***rds are their on the elected seats and Ruling us ....
Again.. I request the moderator to please publish this post separately so that more audience can have thier view on this...
Regards,
Aakash

great entertainment folks..well, the water cannons did spoil the whole thing. they did stop you, didn't they? thank god you are not obcs- the police reserve the bullets for them and the dalits.. exclusively.

Its a pity that Mr. Malik of IMA dont even know how much is the current reservation...I was watching Sahara Samay...
He was saying dont divide us on the basis of caste...somebody plz tell that fool...that the society is already divided...we have Sharmas, Vermas, Mishras...what is all this...
You are not YOUTH FOR EQUALITY...You are YOUTH FOR SEATS...and when you will get the seats...you all will flew to UK or US...

You guys should take some lessons frm the people who r supporting reservation...they are more civilized when they protest...you people are breaking all the rules...going mad...running towards Rashtrapati Bhawan...
Dont worry people...when the 85% SC/ST/OBC/Minorities will unite...you 15% will be nowhere...

some people are trying to discourage students to protest. Look at the previous couple of posts. DOnt stop.
The news right now are that in current session they are not going to implement the quota rule but remember, this is still a pending issue. they are going to implement this sooner or later. continue to protest unless there is total removal of quota system.

Hi friends,
its really heartbreaking to see once again Delhi Police treating medical students like criminals ...
its equally disappointing to see that none of the ministers from the govt didnt bother to even enquire about the health of injured students...
but whats most disappointing to see is one thing ---why should only Delhi students face the lathi charge ,water cannons,& police custody will rest of us merely sit at our homes and enjoy the gossip ,while they face the coward Delhi Police in this rough delhi weather...
the time has come to take this issue to national level and fight it on every street and corner of India ...
if we donot stop the power savvy and vote hungary govt now ....they may even increase the reservation above 50% (already happened in TN,Chattisgarh)....
if u already have a seat (MS/MD) ...U may still face reservation for DM /MCh ...
if u have a terminal branch u could still be denied fellowship/lecturership after reservation...
if u hav completed ur education ..atleast fight for your younger siblings .your next generation , ...
if u dont hav any of these reason , atleast fight to save INDIA from these regressive policies which can only lead to destruction ,communial riots, caste divides, brain drain, as it happened in Indonesia a decade ago...
wake up its now or never...

dear docs,

did you know that in the states of south India there was a movement a few decades ago called "the Temple Entry" movement?

Well, there was a time when dalits and other 'lower castes' were not allowed entry into temples. when the dalits demanded that they be allowed to enter the temples, the upper castes resisted - just as you are reacting today. they argued that if the 'lower castes' entered the temples, the temples will be desecrated - just as you are arguing that if OBCs enter the higher education instituitions, they will become substandard.

there was a severe struggle. but the 'lower castes' won their right to a dignified existence.

do whatever you want, democracy shall prevail, casteism shall be defeated.

At 11:11 am, Anonymous Anonymous said...

there is a very easy solution to the quota system.

ban all upper caste members from entering higher education institutes.

for the next 100 years the upper castes should enjoy 100% reservation in the professions of mochi, nai, dom, sweepers etc.

these were the professions which were reserved for the lower castes for the last thousands of years. let the upper castes face their own medicine.

ya well the last 2 posts are really heartening. these idiots who know how to as well as can afford to use the net demand reservations for themselves...as has abeen said all along we want upliftment of the backward classes of india, but not of hippocrits like the people who posted these 2 messages. when u cant support us, at least dont try to justify something which very evidently is vote bank politics. even the prime minister hasnt tried justifying this bill for this very reason..there isnt any justification.

well well people we all are living in a democracy...we have full right to express our views...

We are not discouraging anyone...go on with ur useless protest...let the patients suffer...as we know that u people dont care about them...all u need are seats...

As far as the Vote bank politics is concerned...so When u can fight for ur benefit...politicians have full right to fight for their benefit...Votes...

I was thoroughly disappointed by the way doctors were treated yesterday.but such imprudent moves will only make us stronger and we will fight for equality.Kudos to doctors for making the first move against reservations

At 8:03 pm, Anonymous Anonymous said...

ya right!! this is a democracy and you have the fright to express urselves....and i believe that it was exactly what you were doing at jantar mantar y'day. so stop cribbibg about that.......all of us know what democracy is and what the right to freedom of speech and expression is!!!

ever heard of the right to equality????????????????????

if u think this is about seats, get a reality check first.....

u tell me...how is any student belonging to any of the so called lower caste inferior to the students of upper class, when in our college we get the same education, same exposure, they even get scholarships...and they get equal marks.

then why is there a need of reservation in higher medical studies or any other field for that matter????

Don't u ppl beleive in yourselves....don't u have the confidence that you can get there urself......or is it that u pll are so unreasonably insane so as to believe that so called upper class ppl somehow modify the results of the entrance examinations so that some meritorious students get less marks than they deserve to ???????????

you are inferior because you think you are inferior. you need reservation because you are scared of working hard.

you seem to be from a family with access to computers and internet...needless to say that ur condition is financially stable and that u have access to good primary and school level education........why do u need reservation????????????

reservation made on economic guidelines makes sense...agreed....but based on caste..........which century are u living in???????????????

politicians are just using this oppertunity to get votes...and yes, u r right, they have every right to work for there benefits at the cost of the future of an entire generation and many more to come!!!!!

stop blaming doctors for being inhuman....if the government chooses to respond this way...they are hardly left with a choice. this is their right of freesom of speech and expression ( since you seem to be in love witrh this phrase)

only if the prime minister had agreed to atleast talk to us, y'day would not have been what it was.

and as far as this side of the court going outside of the law is concerened....you ppl must be rejoicing!!!!!!

to put it simply...you guys sre supporting the government stand...so you ppl go anywhere and demonstrate...no one is going to say anything. And we are against it.....so anywhere we meet up its unlawful.....the police is just doing its job, no grudges against them....but if they think that they can stop us by detaining us....they are mistaken.

we have had enough of watercannons and teargas to get used to it. You can continue thinking that our protest is useless...but keep that opinion of yours to yourself....coz unlike you, we are not scared to work hard...specially when its for our future and also the future of the nation.

in the end...at somepoint , agreed it goes down to seats....but its only ppl like you who love to see through filters which cut away the rest of the issue from it.

Its a much bigger issue, a much bigger cause.....but you wouldn't want to see it...so i'll stop wasting my time on this.

you live in your own dreamworld...but soon someday, it might come crashing down.
Take care, friend.

The manner in which the plice treated the students at India Gate is deplorable. I fully support you in ur cause and intend to be present at the next protest. Let it be at Jantar Mantar this time so that they do not have an excuse to retaliate.

where is DU? why is this only a medical student protest?

At 1:59 am, Blogger aaks said...

I agree with deepak. THats what i have mentioned in my previous posts. Get support form the industry. Only medical students cant afford to win this against those Ba***rd politicians . its not the protest against any caste its a protest against those politicians who are still using the policy of Divide and Rule.
Cant all people understand this.
There should be support from other general public also.
Please try to get their support by appealing through Media.
Those people who are protesting against our move please understand that this is not a fight against any caste, Lets get united.
Please Please dont be a puppet to these politicians.

Aaks

whole of the issue is getting a little haywire frens
the issue is not us vs them ,backward vs forward .its about rationality but thats what is being sacrificed in few of the comments.
the point is there should not be blind opposition of resrvation but of the failure of the system to uplift the backwards till now and of resrvation especially in higher education when one is already above backwardness
and the intentions of recent increase in the resrvations
and the opposition has got got to b planned and united but alas we doctors are never united and others are not seemingly coming forward.
strikes are going to get only bad name
the only way out seems is get better and appropriate media coverage
let sense prevail in this nation
amen

OBC POPULATION LESS THAN 25%

the govt seems to be fooling us by saying that OBC constitute 52% of INDIAN population and most of them are illeterate and poor ,
the actual OBC poputation is less than 25%
this 52% OBC population is based on 1931 census which includes large chunk of muslim OBC population which later migrated to Pakistan and Bangladesh after partition..
also the mandal comission counts all women(irrespectiv of caste or religion, or education status ) as backward
thus u can see that this 52% OBC population data is grossly inflated to push for vote bank politics ...
u can confirm this from ---search--OBC QUOTA at INDIAN EXPRESS WEBSITE
I have copied the following from the website here---

have a look at this ---
In order to identify OBCs, the government first set up the Backward Classes Commission under the chairmanship of Kaka Kalelkar in January 1953. In its report, submitted in March 1955, the Commission prepared a list of 2,399 backward castes or communities for the entire country, of which 837 was classified as ‘‘most backward’’. Interestingly, the Commission also treated all women in the country as ‘‘backward’’.

Using the 11 criteria, the Commission identified 3,743 caste groups as OBCs. Since population figures along caste lines were not available beyond 1931, the Commission used the 1931 census data to calculate the number of OBCs. The population of Hindu and non-Hindu OBCs worked out to about 52 per cent of the total population. The Commission could not, however, recommend 52 per cent reservations because of the legal constraint that the total quantum of reservations should not exceed 50 per cent. Since the already existing reservations for SC/ST was in tune with their proportion to total population — ie, 15 per cent for SCs and 7.2 per cent for STs (22.5 per cent taken together), OBCs were given a reservation of 27 per cent.

SO DONT BE SCARED BY OBC or PRO-OBC politicians ,speak up openly against OBC reservation ,but most important dont give up your fight against this reservation policy..

victory shall be ours
make no mistake

hi, all,

Hope some of you have already got this and got to know about the 49'O ..
It says :
"In a particular constituency, if a voter has dislike to all of the candidates competing there,
Then he can show his dislike to all of them by registering for 49'O .
Steps for doing this :
1. while registering the name by the time of voting, convey the booth officials that "I want to go for 49'O".

2. Register your signature in the 49'O form available there.
Done.

Now, if the number of 49'O count is larger than that of the winning candidates total vote count, then a re-election is called there.

More than all, the shameful fact is,
This 49'O is available ever since 1960, but it is in no way conveyed to the people.

Neither the government communicate this, nor did the election commission.
As long as the people are unaware of this one, the political parties are enjoying by winning the election and ditching our country

If you want result, start pledge campaign.

A pledge to vote against UPA entire life untill they roll back proposed increase in reservation, appoint non-political commission to examine issue whether reservations should be continued, in what form, on what basis and how long.

A signed hard copy of the pledge should be sent to Sonia Gandhi.

HI AM MANOJ BISHT FROM DELHI. WHILE OPPOSING THE IDEA OF RESERVATION OF, EVERBODY IS RELYING ON THE FOLLOWING TWO ARGUMENTS: "SUCCESS OF RESERVATION VIS-A-VIS THE UPLIFTMENT OF SC,ST,OBC's" AND "IMPORTANCE OF MERIT FOR THE NATION". BOTH THESE ISSUES ARE HIGHLY DEBATABLE WITHOUT ANY CONCLUSION BECAUSE IF VIEWED DIRECTLY, RESERVATION HAS CERTAINLY CAUSED SC,ST,OBC'S TO GET SOCIAL UPLIFTMENT THRU FINANCIAL LIFTMENT BY WAY OF JOBS. REGARDING THE MERIT ISSUE, I WOULD LIKE TO EXPLAIN WITH AN EXAMPLE: SUPPOSE FOR A JOB OF A CLERK IN THE GOVT, THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT IS 12 STD, THAN THE CANDIDATE SELECTED EVEN FROM SC,ST,OBC WILL BE AT LEAST GRADUATION DUE TO HIGH GAP OF DEMAND AND SUPLLY OF JOBS IN INDIA. FOR A GENERAL CATEGORY CANDIDATE, HE WILL HAVE TO BE MUCH MUCH HIGHER THAN JUST GRADUATION. THUS, MERIT IS NOT THE REAL ISSUE BECAUSE EVEN THE RESERVED GUY WILL BE ABLE TO PERFORM HIS DUTIES FAIRLY WELL. IT IS VERY HARD TO STRESS OUR POINT IN THE MEDIA OR OTHER PLACES. INSTED THE REAL ISSUE WHICH CAN BE PUT FORWARD IS "JUSTICE TO THE GENERAL CATEGORY" BECAUSE BEING IN INDIA WITH SUCH A HUGE GAP IN DEMAND AND SUPPLY OF JOBS, EVERY CITIZEN SHOULD GET EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND THE BEST SHOULD GET THE JOB EVEN IF THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION/SKILL FOR THE JOB IS LOWER. I THINK THAT THIS POINT IS VERY SOLID AND WE SHOULD ALL STRESS ON THE POINT OF "JUSTICE" OR "EQUAL OPPORTUNITY" AFTER ALL IT'S NOT OUR FAULT THAT THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT CATCHING UP WITH OTHERS.
OTHER STRONG POINT IS THAT UPLIFTMENT OF THE SC,ST,OBC'S IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GOVERNMENT BUT THE GOVERNMENT IS FORCEFULLY TRANSFERRING IT'S RESPONSIBILITY ON EITHER THE PRIVATE SECTOR OR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE FACT IS THAT ALL THE GOVERNMENT MACHINERY LIKE GOVT SCHOOLS, PUBLIC SECTOR UNDERTAKINGS, ETC HAVE FAILED TO HELP THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE THE JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN MANY OF THEM ARE VIRTUALLY NIL.
